Aussie indie pop artist Ashton Orion returns with a captivating second single, "Bad Dreams."

Have you been having strange dreams since lockdown started? Ashton Orion knows the feeling. The Geraldton, Western Australia songwriter captures the uncanny feeling of nightmares in her new single, "Bad Dreams," just released this past Friday (24 July 2020).

This new track has Orion take a turn with her sound, as she deviates from the bright indie pop landscape of her debut single "Uneasy." On "Bad Dreams," Orion creates a world that sounds like a nightmare personified. Brooding synths and a pulsating rhythm create an eerie tension, while Orion's hypnotic vocals hold the listener in an inescapable dream state.

Similarly to her debut single, "Bad Dreams" also features Orion's lyrical exploration of feelings of intense apprehension. And once again, she takes hold of these anxious feelings, confessing that "Nothing's gonna worry me / As long as I don't fall asleep." Orion's lyricism has an excellent quality of being able to both disclose her worries, but also to recognize that she can have power over them.

Through her mysterious dreamworld, Ashton Orion explores the experience of a nightmare in a way that isn't just about the terrifying, but also takes a deep dive into the thought-provoking inner questions and complexities. And with just two singles out now, she will definitely be one to keep on your radar this year.
