NEW SINGLE : "Thick and Thin" by Okey Dokey (featuring Dent May)

Okey Dokey and Dent May have got each other's backs in new single, "Thick and Thin."

After successfully releasing their sophomore album Tell All Your Friend this past March, Nashville psych-pop duo Okey Dokey is already back with more singles to share. This time, they teamed up with indie favourite Dent May for an uplifting new song, "Thick and Thin" released today (17 May 2019).

"'Thick and Thin' is about loving someone who's going through a dark time and trying to shine a light to help them through, because they've done the same for you in the past," says Dent May. The undeniable collaborative chemistry between these two artists fosters this meaning, as both of their individual styles are allowed to shine, while still feeling cohesive and purposeful. 

The artists have evidently been supportive of each other throughout the creation of the song, as May describes, "We did the whole thing over email. They sent me an instrumental and I wrote and recorded vocals. Then they completely rerecorded and rearranged the song around my vocals. I think I cried when I finally heard the finished track."

For both Okey Dokey and Dent May, writing a song together was a big aspiration. Okey Dokey revealed that they're huge fans of May, and that "Working with Dent has always been on [their] bucket list." Likewise, May expressed that after playing a show in Nashville with Okey Dokey, he "could immediately tell [they] shared certain songwriting sensibilities, so it feels natural that [they'd] go on to collaborate." This dream team truly loves what they do, as Okey Dokey explains, "Making this song together felt more like the ultimate group art project than just making a song. That's the beauty of working together and being open to ideas and change."

With summer almost here, this track's whimsical blend of psychedelic pop and classic soul influences, effortlessly fun melodies, and celebration of love and friendship will get you in just the right attitude for the warmer weather.
