This band's latest album name, Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, isn't just for show. The Modern Electric create an original brand of cinematic rock with huge, hooking pop choruses, uniquely strong vocals, and beautiful instrumentals. Single "The Summer of Lou Reed", is a piano-driven anthem, with rich vocals and a truly captivating melody. It's the type of music that becomes the soundtrack to your life.

Liverpool four-piece The Night Café create irresistible guitar-driven indie that's bound to become the next big thing. Their most recently released EP, Get Away from the Feeling, features the song "You Change with the Seasons", whose memorable guitar riff and glowing vocal melody are indie pop perfection. These teens are on the right track to alternative success.

This Philadelphia-based band is one that deserves way more attention. FV, whose band name does not stand for anything, released their debut EP, Fake Love, last year. The title track digs into some of the band's more rock-based influences, as loud guitars dance throughout a huge chorus. Be sure to check out FV, as they have hinted about new stuff to come this year.

This new East London band is bringing an exciting energy to an old-school punk that everyone can love. Cross Wires released their debut single, "I Want Radio / Pink Dogs", last year, and have a brand new single coming out this Friday, April 21. Produced by Rory Attwell, who has worked with the likes of The Vaccines, "We Call The Shots" is currently available on Soundcloud. The band is now in the studio working on their debut album, which you should be watching out for later this year.

Vistas are an up-and-coming Scottish quartet, whose guitar-driven anthems need to be added to your library. The band released their debut single, "Sign Language" in 2016, with EP, Medicine following later that year. Their most recent single, "Feel Alive", is bright and catchy, with sing-along vocals and energetic guitar. The song makes me excited to see what's to more come this year for this potential-packed band.

Hardcastle are one of my favourite small bands, and their third single is quite possibly their best yet. "Millennial Attraction" is insanely catchy, with danceable guitar lines, steady percussion, and honest lyrics. The song sheds light on some of the common hardships that modern relationships face, while still holding its upbeat sound. This captivating band is one that you need to be listening to.

The solo project of Nashville musician Jake Germany is just getting started. Germany has released two shimmering dance-pop singles so far as PHANGS, with "One & Lonely" as the most recent. Nostalgia and dreamy falsettos are a constant, with smooth synths and a huge pop chorus that leaves an unforgettable impact. PHANGS is due to release his highly anticipated next single, "Always Been U" on April 26.

"There's a Honey" is the debut single from Manchester band Pale Waves. Despite the blank album art, this tune is full of colourful life. Produced by The 1975 members Matt Healy and George Daniel, the song quite obviously holds a lot of influence from the popular alt band, but still sets out on its own. Pale Waves have a lot of potential to be the next huge alternative band, and are definitely one to watch.

Charming Florida-based indie outfit Boxing at the Zoo released their debut EP, BATZ, in 2015, and are now back with a brand new single. Released in February of this year, the band's most recent single "Streetlights" combines a gentle, sweet melody with softly intertwining guitar and bass lines. The peaceful, charismatic sounds of Boxing at the Zoo are a necessity for any playlist.
